Schwedt/Oder: Controlled Detonation of UXOs Next Tuesday

Residents of Schwedt/Oder are advised to alter their daily routines next Tuesday due to a controlled detonation of five unexploded ordnances (UXOs) discovered in the Schwedter Querfahrt area. The Brandenburg State Office for Mining, Energy and Geology has decided to render the UXOs harmless on-site, with the operation set to take place between 9:30 AM and 1:00 PM.

The UXOs, all of German origin, pose safety concerns, leading to the decision for a controlled detonation. Local authorities, including the police and fire department, will secure the paths around the detonation site. The Water and Shipping Authority of Eberswalde will also monitor the Schwedter Querfahrt during the operation. Residents are urged to avoid the area and change their usual routes to work or walks by the water during the few hours of the action.

The controlled detonation is scheduled for Tuesday, October 7, with the aim of neutralizing the five UXOs and ensuring the safety of the local community. Residents are advised to comply with the safety measures and follow the instructions provided by the authorities.
