Hold on tight and gear up, because Mick Schumacher's career is accelerating faster than ever! This weekend, he's Taking on the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans in France, competing for the World Endurance Championship title. But is this sprawling race his dream ride or just another lap in his quest for Formula 1 glory?

Growing up with the thrill of Formula 1, Le Mans was a lesser-known territory even for Mick Schumacher. With a championship that hinges on one grand race, he mused recently, "For me, it's been this way for a long time." The highlight of the World Endurance Championship this year? "If you win Le Mans, you've proven yourself," he said.

On Saturday (4 pm/Nitro and Eurosport), Schumacher and his Alpine team will race against the tide, vying for victory among over 300,000 spectators. Despite the anticipation, Schumacher maintains a cool composure, telling the "FAZ," "Le Mans is just another race for me." It's a highlight, but it shouldn't be the highlight of the year."

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

Things have been looking up for Schumacher and Alpine. Their recent wins in Imola and Spa secured third place in both races. With the stronger competition anticipated in 2025 compared to the previous year, Schumacher partners with French drivers Frédéric Makowiecki and Jules Gounon. In critical hours, Schumacher takes the wheel, demonstrating his essential role in the team.

But the "biggest role" in his career planning, Schumacher admits, is still Formula 1. A lifelong dream that hasn't waned since it went briefly on hold in 2022. Each lap Schumacher logs in the WEC car, reaching speeds up to 340 km/h, is a chance to prove his mettle for a return to F1. "I believe the Formula 1 teams know what they have in me," he says confidently, citing his ability to push any vehicle to the front and perform at top speed. And a win at Le Mans? It'd "help," Schumacher notes, "but we have to be realistic. First, we want to finish the race."
