### Suspension of Classes in Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental on July 17, 2025

In response to the adverse weather conditions caused by Tropical Depression Crising and the enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), local government units in Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental have suspended classes for the safety of students and staff.

#### Affected Areas

In Negros Occidental, the suspension of classes applies to various cities and towns, including Kabankalan City, Binalbagan, La Castellana, and Hinoba-an. All levels of classes are suspended in both public and private schools in these areas.

In Negros Oriental, all cities and towns have suspended classes for all levels in both public and private schools.

#### Precautions Taken

To ensure the safety and preparedness of the communities, residents are advised to monitor weather advisories and prepare for possible evacuations. Local disaster officials are coordinating with local governments to ensure readiness for any emergencies.

Given the rough sea conditions due to the storm, small boats and motorbancas are advised to stay in port. The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has food packs on standby to assist affected communities.

Negros Oriental, like Negros Occidental, is experiencing the same weather conditions, including Tropical Cyclone Crising. In-person classes have been suspended in Bacolod, Talisay, Silay, Victorias, La Carlota, Bago, Kabankalan, Himamaylan, Sipalay, and several other towns in Negros Occidental on July 17, 2025.

The next heavy rainfall warning is being awaited by the Bacolod City DRRMO EOC. The suspension in Negros Oriental is due to the heavy rain and flooding affecting various municipalities and cities in the province.

In Negros Oriental, Governor Manuel Sagarbarria issued Executive Order No. 10 for the suspension of classes in all levels, both public and private schools, on July 16, 2025. Bacolod City Mayor Greg Gasataya issued Executive Order No. 16, declaring the suspension of classes due to a heavy rainfall warning from Pagasa. The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) raised a heavy rainfall warning across the province.

Private schools with asynchronous and online classes may continue at the discretion of the school administration. Persons living in areas identified as highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards are advised to follow evacuation and other instructions from local officials.

Pagasa advises that the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned should take all necessary measures to protect life and property. The weather conditions are expected to continue until the weekend.

The weather in Bacolod,Negros Occidental, and Negros Oriental is currently affected by Tropical Cyclone Crising and the enhanced Southwest Monsoon, causing the government to suspend in-person classes on July 17, 2025, in various cities and towns, including Bacolod and Kabankalan in Negros Occidental, and all cities and towns in Negros Oriental. The Governor of Negros Oriental, Manuel Sagarbarria, and Bacolod City Mayor Greg Gasataya have issued executive orders for these suspensions.
