Schools in Brandenburg receive bomb threats as a series of menacing calls are made.

In a concerning turn of events, several schools in Brandenburg, Hamburg, Thuringia, Saxony, and Saxony-Anhalt have received bomb threats in recent weeks. The source of this news is rbb.

The threats, sent via email on Monday morning, stated that explosive devices had been placed in school buildings. However, no such devices were found in any of the schools. The affected schools are located in Brandenburg an der Havel, Potsdam, and Kleinmachnow (Postdam-Mittelmark).

The Brandenburg Public Prosecutor’s Office is leading the investigation into these threats. Preliminary findings suggest a link to right-wing extremist groups, including those affiliated with the Atomwaffen Division, a neo-Nazi terrorist organization active in Germany.

Investigations have revealed a 17-year-old neo-Nazi who had prepared explosive devices and carried out initial tests. Findings at his premises supported suspicions of planning serious violent acts dangerous to the state. Furthermore, large police raids in late 2024 targeted members of an Atomwaffen-affiliated cell in Germany, further linking the organization to threats and illegal arms activities.

Despite these developments, no other distinct groups or individuals have been identified as the culprits behind these bomb threats in 2025. Therefore, right-wing extremist and neo-Nazi groups, particularly Atomwaffen Division affiliates, appear to be the primary suspects.

The deputy head of the Brandenburg an der Havel school authority is Christof Kürschner. He confirmed that the schools took the threats seriously and informed the police immediately. The police forces were quick to respond, and the schools were given the all-clear later in the day.

It's important to note that the motive behind these threats remains unclear at this time. The police are working diligently to determine the motive and to identify the culprit behind the email threats.

In addition to the Brandenburg schools, schools in Hamburg, Thuringia, Saxony, and Saxony-Anhalt have also received email threats, although no suspicious findings were reported on site.

The police forces are urging the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activities or information that could aid in the investigation. The safety and security of our schools and communities are of utmost importance.
