Buses in the Southwest drive normally again on Monday - School buses resume in Ludwigslust-Parchim despite icy roads and fresh snow

School buses in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district will return to the roads on Monday after days of disruption. Winter storm Elli had left many stranded, but services are now set to restart. Meanwhile, fresh snow and icy conditions will keep travel challenging across the region.

Overnight into Monday, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania will see a few more centimetres of snow. The weather will shift later in the day, with snow turning into freezing rain. Meteorologists warn that black ice risks will rise by Monday evening.

Regular scheduled and on-demand bus services in the district will also resume. Replacement buses will continue covering the two Elbe River ferry routes until further notice. Some minor delays may still happen as crews work to clear snow from roads.

Travel conditions will remain difficult due to lingering snow and the threat of black ice. Public transport, including school buses, is back in operation, but passengers should expect possible hold-ups. Authorities advise caution on the roads as freezing rain moves in later on Monday.
