School bus crash leaves four children injured after icy road collision
A school bus and a Volkswagen Caddy collided on Monday morning near Weitendorf, leaving four children and a man injured. The crash happened at around 7:20 a.m. on Route K 106, forcing a full road closure for about an hour. Police are now investigating the incident under Detective Inspector Markus Bauer.
The accident began when the Caddy’s driver lost control on icy roads and skidded into oncoming traffic. The vehicle then struck the school bus head-on. Four children on board suffered minor injuries, including headaches and shock, while the 43-year-old Caddy driver also sustained slight injuries.
The road reopened once the wreckage was cleared and initial inquiries were completed. The children involved have since returned to school, while the police continue their examination of the crash. Authorities have not yet released further details on potential causes beyond the icy conditions.
