Residents in Schöftland will soon face increased water bills, with local authorities approving a 20 percent price hike. The new rates, set to commence on January 1, 2026, will rise from CHF 1.50 to CHF 1.80 per cubic meter of water consumed. The Electricity and Water Commission (ELWA) proposed the change, which was later reviewed by Schöftland’s municipal council and the Swiss Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education, and Research’s Price Supervision Office. Starting in 2026, households and businesses in Schöftland will pay CHF 1.80 for every cubic meter of water used. The funds will support crucial projects such as pumping stations and river source protection, reflecting ongoing efforts to maintain and enhance the municipality’s water network.
