Schlossteich Park's main path to undergo €305K renovation starting March 2026

Starting Monday, March 2, renovation work will begin on the main path through the Schlossteich park along the eastern shore of Schlossteich Lake, between Erich-Schmidt-Straße and the Pleißenbach outfall structure, as well as the small square surrounding the Ernst Thälmann Memorial. The start date depends on weather conditions, with completion expected by the end of July 2026.

The severely damaged asphalt surface will be replaced with a lime-stabilized path, designed to preserve the area's historic character, and edged with dark basalt natural stone. The connecting paths leading to the main route will also be renewed.

Additionally, an unofficial footpath will be removed, and new plantings will be added along the main path near the staircase leading to Schlossberg Park and the Miramar area.

The project carries a total cost of €305,000, with two-thirds of the funding provided by federal and Free State of Saxony grants. The construction contract has been awarded to Steinbach & Richter GbR, a company based in Lichtenau.

Further path renovations in the Schlossteich park are scheduled for 2027.
