"Schleswig-Holstein Netz Cup: Germany Comes Third"
Great Britain's Rowers Shine at Schleswig-Holstein Netz Cup and World University Games
In a thrilling display of rowing prowess, Great Britain's crews made a strong showing at the Schleswig-Holstein Netz Cup in Germany and the 2025 World University Games.
In the Schleswig-Holstein Netz Cup, the Men's eight crew, consisting of George Reed (Leander Club) and Levin Graf (Leander Club / Rob Roy BC), along with coxswain Beatrice Argyle (Oxford Brookes University BC), finished third with a time of 37:41 minutes. This was a remarkable achievement, as the race is known for its tough competition. The Women's quadruple sculls team, featuring Poppy Baker (recent 2025 World Rowing U23 Champion), Freya Keto (GB Rowing Team), Rebekah Court (A final participant in women’s double sculls at recent World University Games), and Heloise Wormleighton (Molesey BC), also took third place, finishing behind Germany and the Netherlands in a time of 43:11 minutes.
At the World University Games, Toby Lassen and Felix Rawlinson, participants in the Men's eight crew, were bronze medal winners in the Men's pair event. Max Mills and Beatrice Argyle, members of the Men's eight and Women's eight crews respectively, won gold medals in their respective events.
Coaching for both crews was provided by Pete Sheppard, Head Coach for the GB Rowing Team's Olympic Pathway, and Sam Sheppard, a coach at Oxford Brookes University. Pete Sheppard and Sam Sheppard also provided support at the Schleswig-Holstein Netz Cup.
The Men's eight crew also included Jonathan Cameron, who rows for Oxford Brookes University BC. Other notable members of the Women's quadruple sculls team include Freya Keto, who rows for Thames RC and Cambridge University BC, and Heloise Wormleighton, who also rows for Nottingham RC.
Regatta support for the teams was provided by Henry Pearson, Paul Cobbett, and Ben Sheppard.
These impressive performances showcase the strength and talent of Great Britain's rowing teams, and bode well for future competitions.
