Schleswig-Holstein's newest Minister of Education, Dorit Stenke, boasts significant experience, having spent the past five years as State Secretary in the government department. Taking the reins from Karin Prien - now a part of Berlin's federal cabinet - Stratakis is confident that Stenke's proven track record and familiarity with the system will ensure stability and continuity in Schleswig-Holstein's education, research, and cultural policy.

Emphasizing the importance of respecting educational traditions, Stenke plans to continue Prien's work, citing the need to maintain a constant and predictable educational policy for students and teachers. Speaking about their differences, Stenke explained she possesses a unique educational science perspective that could influence their dialogue in policy-making.

Günther, Minister President of Schleswig-Holstein, underscored Stenke's ability to seamlessly transition into Prien's role without any major policy overhauls, emphasizing their shared vision for a harmonious experience. As for the previous Minister, Prien's departure for the federal cabinet leaves behind a gap in the education policy landscape, with Schleswig-Holstein battling to catch up in various education rankings during her tenure.

The FDP's parliamentary leader, Christopher Vogt, while acknowledging Stenke's expertise, felt that her appointment represented a missed opportunity for a fresh start. Meanwhile, the SPD parliamentary group leader, Serpil Midyatlı, expressed her hopes that Stenke could bring change and new approaches, given the enormous challenges and poor rankings Schleswig-Holstein faces in education.

In the eyes of SSW education politician Jette Waldinger-Thiering, Stenke showcased qualities that could help address the pressing issues plaguing the education sector, including tackling immediate challenges and understanding the competing needs of minority institutions in cultural policy. The Chairwoman of the Education and Science Union, Kerstin Quellmann, stressed that Stenke's lack of policy-making experience as State Secretary could prove a problem, but given her extensive educational background, she should require little orientation time.

As for navigating the government, Stenke's successor in the Ministry of Transport, Tobias von der Heide, will take over soon once the succession in his ministry is finalized. The new State Secretary in the Ministry of Justice and Health will be Neumünster's former mayor, Olaf Tauras, effective May 19. He succeeds Oliver Grundei, who resigned for family reasons.
