Schalke leader airs grievances over a botched transfer deal
In a surprising turn of events, the transfer of striker Ba from FC Schalke 04 to Queens Park Rangers has fallen through. The deal, which initially included a buyout fee, was called off due to a knee injury that was discovered during the medical examination.
Ba, who joined Schalke from French club Grenoble Foot in January for 300,000 euros, had been preparing for the transfer for weeks. However, the 28-year-old player had not participated in training for some time, leading to speculation about his fitness.
Frank Baumann, Schalke's sporting director, stated that Ba was in good physical condition before the medical examination. He expressed surprise at Queens Park Rangers' behavior during the past two weeks, particularly in light of the delays and days of no response to calls and official messages.
Despite Ba's knee problems, which have been a factor in four club changes previously, the Senegalese striker was able to maintain an average of over 30 appearances per season. He scored two goals in 13 games for Schalke.
The transfer of midfielder Pape Matar Sarr from FC Schalke to Queens Park Rangers, which has been the subject of rumours, appears to have not come to fruition. Despite two agreements, no verified reports indicate a failed transfer to Queens Park Rangers.
FC Schalke 04 has refrained from making a public comment on the matter until now. It is unclear if the club will seek compensation for the collapsed deal or if Ba will return to training as soon as possible.
