The cultural bigwig, Conrad Clemens, has been slapped with a two-month driving ban and a hefty fine. The crux? He was nabbed whizzing along at a jaw-dropping 80 km/h in a mere 30 km/h zone, according to Radio Lausitz news.

Before, Clemens had starred in a melodrama by lodgeing a protest, which was all set for proceedings in the Weißwasser District Court as an administrative misdemeanor. However, he decided to pull out his protest and enroll in a driver's education workshop instead. "Look, I slipped up. I own up to it fully," he said to the station.

Clemens candidly fessed up to DPA news agency that his speedometer had been creeping higher than it should have been. The incident happened around 2023, when he was still the state secretary for Saxony and the state's rep at the federal level, not yet the cultural minister.
