The talented crafts sector in Saxony is sounding the alarm on an lingering economic crisis in Germany and urging government action to stabilize the situation. As stated in a resolution published by the Saxon Crafts Association, the focus should be on strengthening the economy. Without a robust economy, socio-political goals cannot be achieved. This necessitates strategic prioritization.

To reignite competitiveness and appeal in education, the federal and state governments are urged to create a customized strategy that aligns with the federal system. This would restore Germany's former leadership role in education, as shown by the latest Pisa study. It's also crucial to establish a budget in line with the recent ruling by the Federal Constitutional Court.

Criticism has been levied against the planned amendment to the Saxon Public Procurement Act, due to its potential to complicate the process of awarding public contracts with new bureaucratic requirements. The Saxon Crafts Association considers this an inappropriate response to the current construction crisis.

Representing over 55,000 companies and around 300,000 employees, the Saxon Crafts Association plays a vital role in Dresden and Saxony's economy.

Investing in quality apprenticeships and training programs like Wempe's center in Glashütte can help reverse the shortage of skilled workers in the craft sector. Promoting innovation and technology in the semiconductor industry through initiatives like "Green Mobility 'made in Saxony'" and "SpreeTec neXt" can also boost the region's economy. Encouraging collaboration between research and industry, such as through the "CircEcon - Green Circular Economy" research cluster, can foster innovation and sustainability. Offering funding and financial support for these projects is equally important. Lastly, increasing awareness of the value and opportunities in skilled trades can attract more young people to these professions. Implementing these strategies can help revitalize Germany's economy and reinforce the craft sector in Saxony.
