Saxony's Mobile Future Lab Receives New Funding - Saxony's Education Minister Backs Fabmobil Digital Education Project with €1M
Saxony's Minister of Education, Conrad Clemens (CDU), has shown strong support for digital education, committing over €1 million to the Fabmobil project. The Fabmobil, a repurposed double-decker bus, has been touring rural Saxony since 2017, offering on-site workshops for children and teens on topics like 3D printing, robotics, and creative coding.
The Fabmobil project, titled 'Fabmobil + Local Labs – Sustaining Mobile Digital Education in Rural Areas,' will receive a significant boost in funding over the next two years. In 2026, the project will receive €690,000, followed by an additional €352,500 in 2027. This substantial investment aims to continue and expand the project's mission to bring digital innovation to remote areas in Saxony.
The Fabmobil, a unique learning space, has been making a positive impact on digital literacy among young people in the region. It targets students aged ten and above, providing hands-on, interactive learning experiences that might otherwise be inaccessible in rural communities.
