Mild Fall in Saxony - Saxony’s autumn shines brighter and warmer than average in 2023

Saxony experienced a mild and sunny autumn this year, according to data from the Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD). The German Weather Service reported that temperatures and sunshine levels were slightly above average for the season.

Over the past three months, Saxony saw 335 hours of sunshine—36 hours more than the long-term average. Despite the extra brightness, rainfall reached around 180 litres per square metre. Most of this fell in September and October, while November remained unusually dry.

Temperatures varied widely, from a high of 31.9°C to a low of -17.2°C. On average, the region recorded 9.2°C, which is 0.5°C warmer than the typical autumn average of 8.7°C.

The DWD’s findings show a warmer and sunnier autumn than usual for Saxony. While rainfall was concentrated in the earlier months, the season ended with drier conditions. These patterns provide a clear picture of the region’s weather trends for the year.
