Saxony Eases Access to Social Housing - Saxony raises income limits for social housing vouchers in 2026

Saxony is increasing the income limits for social housing vouchers starting January 2026. The changes mean more households will qualify for subsidised accommodation. Officials say the move will help middle-income families access affordable homes.

The annual gross income cap for a single-person household will climb from €16,800 to €20,520. For couples, the threshold rises from €25,200 to €30,780. Each extra adult in the household adds €7,011 to the limit, while children contribute an additional €855.

The new limits take effect in early 2026. More households will now meet the criteria for social housing support. The changes follow calls to ease access to affordable accommodation across Saxony.
