April showers in Saxony - Wednesday brings sun and 15 degrees - Saxony braces for spring-like warmth as February ends unusually mild

Saxony is set for an unusually mild end to February, with temperatures climbing into double digits. The week will start with changeable weather, but midweek promises sunshine and spring-like warmth.

Forecasters compare the conditions to past early springs, such as 1990 and 2014, when February saw record-breaking warmth. This year's pattern follows a similar trend, with little frost expected by late month.

The beginning of the week will bring classic April-like weather. Frequent showers and occasional thunderstorms are likely, though temperatures will stay above freezing. Highs could reach 13°C (55°F) in most areas, except the Ore Mountains, where single-digit readings will linger.

By Wednesday, conditions will shift dramatically. Abundant sunshine will dominate, with almost no rain expected. Temperatures will peak between 12 and 15°C (54 to 59°F), offering the warmest day of the week.

The mild spell will continue on Thursday, with double-digit temperatures holding steady. The late-February warmth mirrors historical early springs in Saxony, such as 1990, when Dresden hit 17°C due to föhn winds, and 2014, when Atlantic weather systems pushed averages above 8°C. Current forecasts suggest similar patterns, reinforced by broader climate trends.

The week will end with unseasonably warm and sunny conditions. Frost will be rare, and daytime highs will remain well above typical February levels. The pattern aligns with past early springs, marking another mild late-winter period for the region.
