More and more renewable energy facilities in Saxony-Anhalt - Saxony-Anhalt’s renewable energy boom breaks records in wind and solar growth
Saxony-Anhalt has witnessed a significant surge in renewable energy news during 2023 and 2025. Wind and solar power are expanding at unprecedented levels, with thousands of new installations coming online. The latest figures reveal substantial growth in both sectors, setting new benchmarks for the region.
In 2023, the region’s wind energy news grew significantly. While 41 turbines were taken offline—removing 61.5 megawatts of capacity—59 new ones were built, adding 330.8 megawatts. This resulted in a net increase of 269.2 megawatts, the largest rise in a decade. Saxony-Anhalt now operates 2,760 wind turbines, with a total capacity of about 5.79 gigawatts.
Solar power has also skyrocketed, particularly in 2025. A total of 23,114 new photovoltaic systems were installed, including 88 solar farms. Over half of these were small balcony units, reflecting growing interest among homeowners. The 996.5 megawatts of new solar capacity marks the biggest annual expansion ever recorded. Overall, the region now hosts around 129,900 solar installations, generating roughly 5.77 gigawatts. The expansion is driven by a mix of private individuals, small businesses, and installers, supported by government incentives. No single operator dominates the growth, as the increase comes from widespread participation in renewable energy news projects.
The latest data confirms Saxony-Anhalt’s rapid shift toward renewable news. Wind and solar capacity have both reached new highs, with record-breaking additions in recent years. The region now generates more clean energy news than ever, supported by thousands of new installations across homes and businesses.
