Police Helicopter Squadron 2025 Deployed More Frequently - Saxony-Anhalt's Police Helicopters Soar to Record Missions in 2025

The Saxony-Anhalt police helicopter squadron saw a sharp rise in activity during 2025. Last year, the unit carried out 527 missions—a 10% increase from the previous year. Their work included wildfire support, mountain rescues, and searches for missing people.

In 2024, the squadron completed 595 deployments, focusing mainly on locating missing persons or property. They also assisted in forest fire operations and mountain rescues across the region.

By 2025, demand for their services grew further. The helicopters flew 683 sorties, totalling 924 hours in the air. Over half of the missions involved searches for lost individuals or items. Key operations included battling a major wildfire in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district. The unit also played a vital role in mountain rescues within the Harz region.

The squadron's workload expanded significantly in 2025, with more flights and longer hours than before. Their support in emergencies—from wildfires to missing-person searches—remains essential for public safety in Saxony-Anhalt.
