Employers' Association: "We Need a Mandatory Optimism" - Saxony-Anhalt’s economic crisis demands bold reforms by 2026
Marco Langhof, chairman of the Saxony-Anhalt Employers’ Association, has warned that the region’s economic outlook for 2025 remains bleak. Despite some progress, he described the current performance as 'sobering' and urged both businesses and policymakers to take decisive action to secure future growth.
Langhof highlighted rising energy costs, weak demand, and uncertainty in key sectors like chemicals and automotive components as major hurdles. He criticised the government for failing to provide a clear strategy or bold vision to tackle these issues.
Langhof’s proposals centre on high-tech growth, regulatory certainty, and closer cooperation between businesses and government. If implemented, these steps could help Saxony-Anhalt overcome its economic challenges and build a stronger, more competitive future by 2026.
