Snow and Ice in Saxony-Anhalt - Saxony-Anhalt braces for icy blast with snow and freezing rain
Cold weather is set to hit Saxony-Anhalt on Tuesday, bringing icy conditions and wintry showers. Forecasters warn of freezing temperatures, strong winds, and possible snow—particularly in the Harz mountains. The German Weather Service (DWD) has already issued alerts for black ice as sleet and freezing rain move in.
Overnight into Tuesday, light rain and sleet will spread across the region. In the Upper Harz, some areas will see snowfall, with temperatures hovering between 1°C and -1°C. Patchy fog may also form in places, reducing visibility.
The wintry mix of rain, sleet, and snow will last into late morning before easing. Drivers and pedestrians are advised to take extra care due to icy surfaces and reduced visibility in fog. The DWD’s warnings remain in place as freezing conditions persist across the region.
