Saxony-Anhalt Art Foundation Supports 75 Projects This Year - Saxony-Anhalt Arts Foundation unveils bold 2025–2026 cultural initiatives and grants

The Saxony-Anhalt Arts Foundation has announced a series of new projects and funding opportunities for 2025 and 2026. Among the highlights is an upcoming exhibition on textile designer Benita Koch-Otte, marking the centenary of the Bauhaus’s relocation from Weimar to Dessau. The foundation has also approved 75 grants for the coming year, continuing its support for artists across various disciplines.

In 2024, the foundation distributed nearly €681,204 to artists and cultural projects. One of its latest initiatives, the 'Glühende Horizonte' art trail, opened in Allstedt on May 18 and will run until October 5. This rural-based project features works by 13 regional artists and has secured close to €1 million in additional funding from federal and state sources.

The foundation’s 2025 plans include a collaboration with Halle’s National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, focusing on the theme of 'autonomy'. Additionally, a residency at Rome’s Casa di Goethe will be awarded, allowing a selected artist to stay for one month from June 16, 2026.

Looking ahead to 2026, the 'Heimatstipendium' program will enter its next phase. Six artists, including writer Simone Trieder, will spend 12 months working in five museums and a library. Trieder will be based at the Gottfried-August-Bürger-Museum in Molmerswende, while the other five participants and their assigned institutions will be announced later.

The foundation supports a wide range of creative fields, from fine and applied arts to film, performing arts, and interdisciplinary work. Over the years, it has funded around 700 grant recipients, reinforcing its role in fostering artistic development across the region.

The foundation’s upcoming projects and funding commitments will provide new opportunities for artists in Saxony-Anhalt. The 2025 exhibition on Benita Koch-Otte, the 'Glühende Horizonte' art trail, and the expanded 'Heimatstipendium' program will further strengthen the region’s cultural landscape. These initiatives reflect ongoing efforts to connect art with local communities and support creative talent.
