Ramped-Up Border Patrol: Saxony's Crackdown Gets Tougher

Saxon Federal Police Increases Border Guard Operations - Saxon federal law enforcement intensifies border surveillance.

Hey there! The Federal Police's Pirna division is beefing up the borders with the Czech Republic and Poland, according to their spokesperson. They ain't spillin' the beans on the exact number of extra officers, but they've confirmed that it's happening, thank god for that pesky request. This came straight from the Federal Ministry of the Interior, and let's just say their new boss, Alexander Dobrindt, isn't pulling any punches.

Dobrindt, the fresh-faced Interior Minister from the CSU, has been all about tightening the borders lately. In fact, he's even toying with the idea of sending back asylum seekers at the borders if they've already made an application in another EU country. But don't worry, we're talkin' 'bout an exception for the vulnerable ones—the little tykes, preggers ladies, and such.

Right now, these additional controls are goin' down with the existing crew, as told by Federal Police spokesperson Yvette Biesold to the German Press Agency. She said they're all ready to pull in more bodies if it's necessary. They're also workin' hard to keep disruptions to a minimum for them transit drivers on the busy border lanes.

These border checks have been a given since October 2023, and they ain't been entirely limited to the A17 and A4 motorways in Saxony. Now, they're set up at additional locations to make sure the perimeter's as secure as a fortified castle.
