Saxon Academy of Arts Gathers in Halle for Annual Meeting
The Saxon Academy of Arts, established in 1996 by the Free State of Saxony, is hosting its annual general meeting in Halle (Saale) this weekend. With around 200 highly respected members from Germany and abroad, the academy focuses on the Central German region and neighboring countries. A public lecture on artistic freedom will kick off the event on Friday evening at the Kunstmuseum Moritzburg.
The academy, which boasts five sections - architecture, fine arts, performing arts, literature and language, and music - has four members based in Halle: Ragna Schirmer, Wilhelm Bartsch, Prof. Dr. Stephan Pabst, and René Schinkel. Following the lecture, a panel discussion will be held between Wolfgang Ullrich and Durs Grünbein. The event will see greetings delivered by Dr. Alexander Vogt, Lord Mayor of Halle, Dr. Thomas Bauer-Friedrich, Director of the Kunstmuseum Moritzburg, and Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Holler, President of the Saxon Academy of Arts.
The Saxon Academy of Arts, with its diverse membership and regional focus, is set to engage in a weekend of artistic discourse and celebration in Halle.
