Savin Theater Brings Professional Stage Productions to Rural Komi in 2026
The Savin Academic Drama Theater has launched an ambitious touring plan for 2026. Under the festival Masters of the Arts to the Countryside
The festival will deliver full theatrical productions and concert programmes to local cultural centres. Unlike typical tours, the theatre will transport complete stage sets and professional lighting equipment. This ensures audiences experience performances at the same standard as in the capital.
Rostislav Goldstein, head of the Republic of Komi, has stressed that no area in the region should be considered remote. The project aligns with this vision by making professional theatre accessible everywhere. The theatre's director has also highlighted the mission's importance in demonstrating the unity of Komi's sprawling territory. No official figures exist on how many rural cultural centres currently have stage facilities matching the Savin Theater's standards. Yet the tour intends to close this gap by providing top-tier productions regardless of location.
The 2026 season will mark a significant step in connecting Komi's diverse communities through culture. Residents in all districts will have the chance to attend professional performances without travelling to urban hubs. The initiative reflects a broader effort to ensure equal access to the arts across the republic.
