Saudi Pro League team Neom secured a win against Al-Okhdood, moving them up to fourth place in the league standings.
In a thrilling turn of events, Neom secured their first home victory in the Saudi Pro League with a 1-0 win over Al-Okhdood. The decisive goal came in the 28th minute, scored by 21-year-old Saudi international Abdulmalik Al-Oyayari.
Al-Oyayari, another home-grown talent for Neom, showcased his skills with a stunning right-foot shot from nearly 30 meters, leaving Al-Okhdood's goalkeeper, Samuel Portugal, unable to prevent the goal.
Despite the presence of former France international Alexandre Lacazette, who played for Al-Okhdood in the match, Neom could not add to their tally. The victory left Neom on six points after their first three matches, climbing into fourth place in the league.
Meanwhile, Al-Okhdood had Colombian midfielder Sebastian Pedroza sent off in second-half stoppage time. The defeat marks Al-Okhdood's first loss of the season, as they had previously earned a point in their opening match against Al-Faisaly and secured a 2-1 win against Damac in their second game.
Elsewhere in the league, Al-Taawoun moved into fifth place with a 4-1 home victory over Ettifaq. The victory for Al-Taawoun was their second win of the season, after their opening match ended in a draw against Al-Ittihad.
With Neom's first home victory under their belt, they will be looking to build on this momentum as they continue their Pro League campaign. The focus now shifts to Neom's next match, where they will aim to secure another victory and climb even higher in the league standings.
