Saudi Arabian football club Al-Nassr welcomes French international Kingsley Coman
In a significant move for the Saudi Pro League, French international winger Kingsley Coman has left Bayern Munich after a decade to join Al-Nassr on August 15th, 2023. The 27-year-old has signed a three-year contract, bringing his impressive career to the Middle East.
Coman, who won nine Bundesliga titles and the 2020 UEFA Champions League with Bayern, is best remembered for scoring the winning goal in the Champions League final against his former club, Paris Saint-Germain. Over the course of his eight years in Bavaria, he made 339 appearances and scored 72 goals. He also earned 58 caps for France, and was a part of the team that won the 2021 Nations League.
At Al-Nassr, Coman will be joining a star-studded squad. Cristiano Ronaldo, who is a major figure in the team, will be his teammate, along with João Félix, who arrived from Chelsea, and Iñigo Martínez from Barcelona. These additions underscore Al-Nassr’s ambition to build a team of globally recognised football stars following Ronaldo’s arrival.
Karim Benzema and N'Golo Kanté were the pioneers in signing with Saudi Arabian clubs, and this summer has seen the addition of three more French prodigies: Theo Hernandez, Enzo Millot, and Alexandre Lacazette. This focus on young talent indicates a growing interest in the Saudi league from French players.
Coman expressed his gratitude towards Bayern Munich in a farewell message, and is now set to play alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mané, and João Félix at Al-Nassr. The total number of French players under contract with a Saudi club is now 15.
