Breaking News: The Screwtape Letters Transforming Screens

New York City's theatrical powerhouse, Fellowship for Performing Arts (FPA), has secured the rights to adapt C.S. Lewis' iconic novel, The Screwtape Letters, into a pulse-racing feature film. This blockbuster collaboration is a joint venture with the C.S. Lewis Company.

Max McLean, the visionary founder and artistic director of FPA, expressed his excitement, stating, "We're ecstatic about this incredible project, and we're honored by the trust bestowed upon us by The C.S. Lewis Company."

Ken Denison, FPA's executive producer, emphasized the film's weighty importance, "It's a massive creative responsibility, and we're eager to bring one of Lewis' most memorable characters to the silver screen."

Vincent Sieber-Smith, managing director of The C.S. Lewis Company and producer of Netflix's The Chronicles of Narnia, commended FPA's improbable talent, "FPA consistently demonstrates a remarkable ability to reinvigorate Lewis' legacy, captivating new audiences with their imaginative and faithful adaptations."

In The Screwtape Letters, Lewis masterfully crafts a topsy-turvy universe where a senior devil named Screwtape instructs his novice tempter, Wormwood, in the intricate dance of temptation. The story, first published in 1942, offers a devilishly comedic perspective on the human condition from the depths of hell.

FPA has been touring with a stage adaptation of The Screwtape Letters since 2023 to outstanding success. The stage show will continue its triumphant journey across the United States through the end of the year.

McLean shared insights about Lewis' profound wisdom, "He didn't shy away from the tough questions. He understood the conflict between our feelings and beliefs. He stated that if we feel but don't act, eventually we become numb to both."

The FPA's cinematic career kicked off in 2021 with The Most Reluctant Convert, a film that recounts C. S. Lewis' captivating journey of faith. This mind-bending film, featuring Max McLean as Lewis, was directed by Emmy and BAFTA award-winning filmmaker Norman Stone. It captivated over 85 UK cinemas and garnered praise from celebrated Christian thinkers, such as Os Guinness, Timothy Keller, and Philip Yancey.
