After over two decades of portraying the iconic character Carrie Bradshaw on HBO's "Sex and the City" and its sequel series "And Just Like That," Sarah Jessica Parker has announced that the show will be coming to an end after the third season.

The news was confirmed by co-creator Michael Patrick King, who explained that the decision was made because the series had reached a natural and satisfying conclusion. While writing the final episode of season 3, it became clear it was a "wonderful place to stop" the story. This decision was made in collaboration with Parker and other executives, aiming to complete the chapter gracefully without overshadowing the enjoyment of the season.

Parker responded to the announcement with a heartfelt and emotional farewell on Instagram, sharing a video montage of her character Carrie Bradshaw’s moments from both "Sex and the City" and "And Just Like That." She described Carrie as having "dominated my professional heartbeat for 27 years" and expressed profound gratitude for the emotional journey and the people involved in the show.

Parker's co-stars, including Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon, also expressed their sadness and appreciation for the series and its fans. Davis mentioned that there are 400 artisans working hard on the show, and King thanked the viewers for letting the characters into their homes and hearts over the years.

Carrie Bradshaw, Parker's character, has been a staple of pop culture since the original series premiered in 1998. Over the years, Carrie has made significant decisions, traveled extensively, changed homes, time zones, boyfriends, and hairstyles. She has elicited a range of emotions from fans, including love, frustration, and rooting for her.

Parker acknowledged the emotions that her character has elicited from fans, saying, "I have loved playing each of your reactions and I will miss all of you. To the millions who have shared their hearts with us, thank you."

As the final two episodes of season 3 approach, Parker expressed hope that fans will love them as much as the cast and crew do. She also thanked the fans for their support, saying, "I couldn't have done it without you, and I couldn't be more grateful."

The final two episodes of "And Just Like That" will air in August 2025, marking the end of an era for both Parker and her fans. While the news may be bittersweet, Parker's Instagram post has received an outpouring of support from fans, with one fan saying, "I will love these characters forever. THANK YOU SJP."

As Parker moves on from Carrie Bradshaw, she will undoubtedly continue to make a lasting impact on the entertainment industry. Fans can look forward to seeing what she has in store for the future.

In the midst of her journey, Sarah Jessica Parker acknowledged the financial responsibility (debt) she would face as she moves on from her iconic character Carrie Bradshaw, saying, "I couldn't have done it without you, and I couldn't be more grateful."

As the entertainment landscape evolves, Parker will continue to leave an indelible mark, transcending the world of movies-and-tv and pop-culture with her future endeavors.
