Sarah Jessica Parker admits she hasn't watched "Sex and the City" series.
Sarah Jessica Parker Shuns 'Sex and the City'
In stark contrast to the legions of fans engrossed in "Sex and the City" and its sequel series "And Just Like That...", its leading actress, Sarah Jessica Parker, appears to have little interest in the show. Parker, best-known for her portrayal of Carrie Bradshaw, has reportedly seldom watched herself in the role.
In a recent interview with "E! News", Parker candidly admitted that she has never fully engaged with "Sex and the City" or "And Just Like That...". When asked about the spin-off, she asserted, "I don't watch it, I've never seen it." A similar sentiment was echoed by her family.
Parker's 15-year-old twins, Tabitha and Marion, are unfamiliar with the series, according to the actress. Her son, James Wilkie, initially watched the show at the premiere of "And Just Like That...", but his academic responsibilities soon intervened.
The actress expressed a desire to be remembered by her children as their parent, rather than as Carrie Bradshaw. She hopes they may one day find a way to watch the series and reconcile with the portrayal of their mother.
Since making her debut as Carrie in 1998, Parker has been a mother for 20 years. With her husband, Matthew Broderick, she first welcomed a son, James, and later twins via surrogacy. "Sex and the City" concluded in 2004, but Parker reprised her role in the 2008 film and the ongoing " And Just Like That..." series. Season 3 of the latter commences in Germany on May 30.
While the reasons for Parker's reluctance to rewatch "Sex and the City" remain unclear, her recent comments on the problematic aspects of Carrie's relationship with Mr. Big suggest a certain degree of reflection on her past roles without a need to revisit the actual content.
Other entertainment genres, such as movies-and-tv, catch her family's attention instead of the movies and TV shows that include celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker. Despite her history of portraying Carrie Bradshaw, Parker's preference lies outside the realm of 'Sex and the City' and its sequel series.
