The young and not-so-young patients at Rostock's Children's and Youth Clinic received a unique and joyous visit on Saint Nicholas Day. Heroes from the local fire department swooped down from the building's rooftop, donning their iconic superhero costumes as Superman, Spiderman, and Batman. They teamed up with the jolly man in red, Santa Claus, who arrived in style on a sleigh attached to a tensioning cable in the clinic's courtyard. This marvelous mode of transport was packed with presents for the little ones who were spending Saint Nicholas Day in the hospital.
Rostock's firefighters, who are renowned for their expertise in high and low rescues, extended their services to bring some much-needed cheer to children in need. As height rescue instructors, they are frequently called upon to save people from wind turbines, church towers, and construction pits. In this instance, however, their skills were utilized to brighten up the children's day, providing an unexpected respite from their hospital routine.
"We're typically deployed to rescue individuals from wind turbines, church towers, or construction pits. Today, we're employing our skills to distract the kids from their daily hospital life for a brief moment," said Sven Vormeyer, a height rescue instructor. The children received their gift bags directly through their windows, radiating excitement as they gazed at their superhero visitors from the safety of their bedrooms.
Breaking the Monotony
The vibrant costumes of the firefighters and superheroes added an explosive burst of joy to the otherwise uniform atmosphere of the hospital.
