San Francisco 49ers Wide Receiver Brandon Aiyuk Targeting Week 6 Return from Injury

Brandon Aiyuk, the San Francisco 49ers' star wide receiver, is expected to make a comeback from his ACL and MCL injury around Week 6 of the 2025 NFL season. This timeline was revealed by 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan, with the actual return date potentially ranging between Week 5 and Week 10.

Aiyuk sustained the injury during Week 7 of the 2024 season and has been on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list since. His recovery and conditioning progress have been closely monitored during offseason and preseason workouts.

In the 2024 season, Aiyuk managed 25 receptions for 374 yards and no touchdowns over seven games before the injury. Despite the setback, the 49ers' general manager, John Lynch, has expressed optimism about Aiyuk's progress in his rehab.

Meanwhile, the 49ers have made some changes in their roster. They released veteran cornerback Eli Apple on Thursday and welcomed rookie running back Jordan James, a fifth-round pick in April's draft. James, who rushed for 2,215 yards and 31 touchdowns in three seasons at Oregon, will miss a couple of weeks due to a broken finger.

Aiyuk's status for the first four games of the season remains uncertain due to his placement on the PUP list. The 49ers are keen for Aiyuk to be fully healthy before he returns to the field, ensuring he can make a significant impact in the latter part of the season.
