San Fernando's LCPC Kicks Off Digital Age Child Protection Training

The City of San Fernando's Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) began a three-day capacity-building program on October 21, 2025. The event, led by the Regional Alternative Child Care Office III, focused on enhancing local implementers' skills in child protection case management in the digital age.

The first day of the event was dedicated to the LCPC's third Quarterly Meeting. Here, members discussed preparations for the upcoming National Children's Month celebration in November. Councilor Kaye Pineda, chair of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Women, Children, and Family Affairs, praised Mayor Vilma Balle Caluag's efforts related to the program.

Following the meeting, council members attended an 'Orientation on Anti-Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) and Anti-Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (CSAEM)' guided by Sherryl Santos of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region III. The session emphasized the significance of digital literacy in child protection.

The three-day capacity-building program, concluding on October 23, also included discussions and workshops on adoption, foster care, and related laws. Pineda underscored Caluag's administration's dedication to the welfare and protection of Fernandino children, ensuring their rights are safeguarded and safety remains a top priority.
