So, you finally did it! How does it feel about the show?
Feeling bloody brilliant, mate! I couldn't be happier with how everything went, and I'm stunned that we were able to create something so extraordinary. I threw the most epic party of my life! A sea of strangers, genuine fans of my music — I never want it to end!
What was the planning process like?
Bloody tough, to be honest. I planned everything myself as there was no promoter involved. There was a mountain of logistics to conquer before I could even begin thinking about the music. I spent around a month planning it all out, and another two months hammering away at making my vision a reality. I'm overjoyed that everything I envisioned came to life exactly as I imagined.
Who were the key players involved in making it happen? How did PBR help?
Me, my badass bandmates (Pete, Joe, and Misha), and the awesome venue were the main players. I had the killer No Cash Refunds opening for me, who slayed it. Jonny (from our school Recordings) put me in touch with the venue and was a bloody legend, offering guidance on every nitty-gritty detail. I'm eternally grateful for his help!
What went down during the show?
My incredible band and I played a bloody brilliant show for a packed house! It was beyond my wildest dreams to see so many people show up to see me. I absolutely lost my mind and sang my heart out; it was one hell of an emotional rollercoaster, but I think I managed to convey that to the audience.
By the way, I heard a fan missed the gig. What happened?
Yeah, unfortunately, a fan was led astray by the venue staff to another venue downstairs. When they finally made their way to us, Pete and I welcomed them, performing a heartfelt rendition of "Happily" for them. I also hooked them up with some free merch and a ticket for the next show. They're officially part of the family now!
Got some advice for students who are looking to do their own headline show?
Be patient and wait for the right moment. This was something I had in my head for ages, but I thought it'd be smart to slowly build up to it. And let me tell you, bloody persistent self-promotion is bloody necessary! The response may not always meet your expectations, but it's important to remember that people require multiple reminders.
Lastly, if it feels right in your gut, take the plunge! I was told that my live performance was my weak point, but I refused to believe it and took a chance. I think I proved to everyone that I can kill it in front of an audience.
Any exciting upcoming projects or shows we should know about?
I'm currently recording some seriously fire new tracks for an upcoming EP with PBR. No shows planned yet, but I've got high hopes for another massive gig this year!
