Salary of coolie caste actors in Lokesh Kanagaraj's film: Wage figures for Rajinikanth, Aamir Khan, and other superstars revealed.
In the bustling world of Indian cinema, the upcoming film "Coolie" is causing a stir, not just for its star-studded cast and anticipated plot, but also for the record-breaking fees earned by its main cast members and crew. Here's a breakdown of the reported remunerations for the film's principal cast and key personnel.
Superstar Rajinikanth, portraying Deva in Coolie, has earned a massive paycheck of approximately Rs 200 crore. Initially, Rajinikanth was set to receive Rs 150 crore, but after the Tamil film's record-breaking pre-sales numbers, the figure was revised. Some unconfirmed reports suggest a fee as high as Rs 260-280 crore, but Rs 200 crore is widely cited by credible sources.
Aamir Khan, in a cameo role, did not charge for his appearance in Coolie. Contrary to earlier rumors, Khan accepted the role out of respect and affection for Rajinikanth, and not for the reported Rs 20 crore fee.
Telugu actor Nagarjuna Akkineni, playing the character Simon, was paid between Rs 10 crore and Rs 24 crore, with most reports favoring Rs 10 crore but some sources claiming Rs 24 crore.
Veteran actor Sathyaraj reportedly received Rs 5 crore for his role in the film. Known for his role as Kattappa in Baahubali, Sathyaraj steps in as Rajasekhar in Coolie.
Kannada star Upendra was paid about Rs 5 crore, approximately the same as Sathyaraj.
Shruthi Haasan, portraying Preethi in the film, has reportedly received Rs 4 crore for her performance.
Lokesh Kanagaraj, the director of Coolie, is said to have been paid a significant sum of Rs 50 crore, marking a milestone in his career.
Anirudh Ravichander, the music composer of Coolie, has not disclosed his fee, but he did admit to using ChatGPT to overcome writer's block while working on the film.
In addition to these fees, there is no publicly available information on any additional fees or charges such as bonuses or profit shares for these members. The figures mostly represent their reported base remunerations.
As for the film's box office performance, Coolie is currently in a clash with War 2 and Jr NTR. Interestingly, Coolie has become the first Tamil film to cross USD 2 million in US advance booking.
