Sailor Hugo Cardon secures victory in the second phase of the Solitaire du Figaro race
The Solitaire du Figaro, one of the most prestigious solo offshore races in the world, is nearing its conclusion. The second stage, which took place between Roscoff in Finistère and Vigo in Spain, has come to an end, and the winners have been announced.
Hugo Cardon, a 23-year-old sailor, clinched the victory in the second stage, finishing at 21:14. Alexis Loison followed closely behind in second place, while Charlotte Yven completed the podium in third.
Alexis Loison, who remains the leader in the general classification, has a lead of over forty minutes. Charlotte Yven is twenty minutes behind the leading duo in the overall standings.
The second stage of the Solitaire du Figaro was a gruelling four days and two hours long. Now, the sailors are preparing for the final stage, which will take them from Vigo to Saint-Vaast-La-Hougue.
Initially, the start of the third stage was scheduled for Sunday at 13:00. However, due to unspecified reasons, the start time has been changed to 17:00. The organizers announced this change on Friday to ensure that the sailors have enough rest time.
The director of the third and final stage of the Solitaire du Figaro is Pierre-Yves Morel. The start was originally planned for 11:00 am but was later postponed to 12:00 pm.
Although no new information about the time duration of the third stage has been provided, one thing is certain: the final stage of the Solitaire du Figaro is set to be as challenging and exciting as the previous ones. Stay tuned for updates as the race unfolds.
