Sailing Competition for Everyone: Neustadt Cup Regatta

The picturesque town of Neustadt in Holstein, Germany, is set to host the 16th Neustadt-Cup regatta on July 19th at the ancora Marina. This sailing event, open to all who love watersports, regardless of experience or type of boat, promises a fun-filled day on the water.

Organized jointly by the city of Neustadt, ancora Marina, Stadtwerke Neustadt, Neustädter Segler-Verein, Tourismus-Agentur Lübecker Bucht, and Gewerbeverein Neustadt, the Neustadt-Cup is a celebration of sailing, camaraderie, and community spirit. The event aims to be inclusive and welcoming to families, friend groups, and experienced sailors alike.

The regatta program is designed to cater to both less experienced crews and those with a sporting ambition. The course is manageable for beginners yet offers opportunities for tactical skill. The regatta includes check-in, skipper's briefing, departure to the race course, start of the regatta, a get-together with after-race drinks and snacks, prize-giving and award ceremony, and an ancora Hafenparty with live music.

The Neustadt-Cup is not just about speed. It's about the joy of sailing. The Neustadt-Cup is the traveling trophy for the fastest yacht of all groups based on calculated time. The Blaues Band is awarded to the fastest single-hulled yacht based on actual sailing time. The Double Hand-Preis is given to the fastest yacht with a 2-person crew, and the Lady-Cup is awarded for the fastest yacht with a female skipper.

The Hafenmeister-Cup is awarded for the crew of the yacht with the longest journey under its own keel, while the Oldie-Preis is given to the crew with the oldest average age, and the Youngster-Preis to the crew with the youngest average age. The ancora-Cup is awarded for the fastest yacht in groups IV + V, and the Hanse-Preis is given to the fastest Hanse yacht, provided at least two Hanse yachts are registered.

The Neustadt-Cup is organized on a voluntary basis and relies on the support of numerous sponsors. The scoring system rewards diversity, with special prizes given for various categories. The Weekend-Cup is an award for exceptional performance during the race.

Dr. Udo Stalleicken and Dr. Claas Riedel from NSV Neustadt serve as the race director and jury for the year 2025. The Najad-Preis is awarded for the fastest Najad yacht, provided at least two Najad yachts are registered.

After the regatta, a Hafenparty takes place from 8:30 PM with live music and good catering. All information about participation, the notice of race, and registration can be found online at www.neustadt-cup.de.

For those seeking a fun, family-friendly sailing event, the Neustadt-Cup regatta offers a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the water, meet new people, and celebrate the joy of sailing.
