Sahith Theegala Announces Indefinite Absence from Play Due to Injury
** Revamped Takes on Theegala's Tour Troubles**
It's a bummer, man! One-time PGA Tour champ, Sahith Theegala, has announced an indefinite hiatus from the greens due to a nagging issue - a bloomin' neck injury that's given him grief for "quite a while now."
The disappointing news comes hot on the heels of his exit from the 2025 RBC Canadian Open, making him one of the 11 yogis to surrender their spot this week. This decision, he shares, was a real hard pill to swallow, given his fondness for the competition and the top-notch treatment they extend to competitors.
"Bummed out to reveal that I had to bow out of one of my fav events of the year," Theegala penned on Instagram. "Best wishes to my buddies at RBC for a smashing week ahead. They're the real deal, and I'll miss swinging clubs alongside my fellow Team RBC warriors at the Canadian Open."
Now, this neck biz isn't some newbie on Theegala's ruckus-filled 2025 journey. With merely two top-20 finishes in 15 starts this season and a rollercoaster 2024 campaign following his 2023 PGA Tour win at the Procore Championship, Theegala's been scufflin' to maintain consistency across the board.
His season's high point was a T17th place at the Genesis Invitational in February. More recently, though, he's been grapplin' with a drop in driving distance and less-than-ideal driving accuracy in his previous two tourneys[1][2]. After a T18th finish at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans in late-April, Theegala pulled out of the Truist Championship and missed the cut at the Memorial Tournament.
Alas, Theegala won't be parading at TPC Toronto, but golf enthusiasts can still look forward to catching Rory McIlroy in action. The five-time Major winner spearheads a crew of 15 top-50 players vying for the third-oldest golf tournament's title[4].
McIlroy's gearing up to make his return since the PGA Championship, where the controversy around his non-conforming driver was exposed. He's set to talk to the media on Wednesday afternoons, and we can bet reporters will be hopping to hear his thoughts on the driver situation and his snub of Jack Nicklaus at the Memorial Tournament last week[5].

Despite Sahith Theegala's unfortunate decision to take a break from the sport, golf fans can still anticipate watching Rory McIlroy play at the RBC Canadian Open. Despite the controversy surrounding his non-conforming driver, McIlroy is prepared to discuss the situation with the media during his upcoming media sessions.
