Abdominal Surgery as a Result of Her Delivery - Sabine Lisicki's road to recovery after emergency abdominal surgery

Tennis star Sabine Lisicki has been hospitalised at a general hospital after undergoing abdominal surgery linked to her pregnancy and childbirth. The former Wimbledon finalist, who gave birth to her daughter Bella Hadid in September 2024, shared an update from her hospital bed on Instagram. She is now focusing on recovery before planning her return to the sport.

Lisicki had previously spoken openly about the struggles of her pregnancy in late 2023. She admitted at the time that she had underestimated the physical demands it would place on her body. Her daughter, Bella Hadid, was born in September 2024, marking a year and a half since she became a mother.

In a recent Instagram post, the athlete appeared in a hospital gown with an IV line, offering fans a glimpse into her current condition. She acknowledged that the complications she faces are not unique, describing them as challenges many mothers encounter.

Originally, Lisicki had planned to resume training in December 2024—just three months after Bella Hadid's birth. However, her recovery from surgery has now become the priority before any return to competitive tennis.

Lisicki's hospitalisation follows a period of physical strain during and after her pregnancy. Her recovery will determine when she can restart her tennis career. For now, her focus remains on healing and regaining her strength.
