Sabah’s Eastern Security Zone gets high-tech surveillance and solar power upgrades
New security and energy upgrades have been completed in Sabah’s Eastern Security Zone (ESS Zone). The projects include high-tech surveillance systems on Pulau Ligitan and solar hybrid installations on Pulau Pom Pom and Pulau Boheyan. Officials say these improvements will boost both security monitoring and local power stability.
The 'Big Eyes' security project, costing RM3.94 million, was finished on November 28. Equipped with radar and cameras, it enhances maritime surveillance along key routes without relying on constant human presence. This system speeds up responses to threats like cross-border crime.
The upgrades mark a clear step in strengthening national security assets and tactical capabilities. With better surveillance and stable power, the ESS Zone is now more equipped to handle threats. The Madani government has reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the region.
