Saarbrücken Echoes with a Musical Celebration

The city of Saarbrücken is gearing up for a musical extravaganza as the Fête de la Musique returns for another year. This free, two-day event will take place on Sunday, June 29, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM at the University of the Saarland campus.

Kicking off the event will be a concert by the Festival de Musique de Sarre orchestra, conducted by Kiril Tsanevski, performing pieces by Dvořák, Fauré, and Strauss in the university's "Aula" (assembly hall). The day will be filled with live music on lawn stages at the campus, concerts and participative activities in the innovation center, courtyard performances, meditation sessions in the “round chapel,” as well as family programs and food specialties outdoors.

The festivities continue into the evening of June 20 and June 21, with over 40 music groups performing at various locations throughout the city. The Vintage Men will be playing blues in the Ulanen Pavilion simultaneously with Marx & Wern's performance on June 20 at 16:00. The blues rock concert will be performed by the band "Stetson" at the Kawumm, while electronic music by the artist collective Marie22 will echo through the Schlossbiergarten.

Archtop Affairs will bring swing and Latin sounds to Café am St. Johanner Markt from 17:00 on June 20. The official kick-off will be given by Mayor Uwe Conradt in the courtyard of the city gallery on June 20 at 15:40.

What makes the Fête de la Musique unique is that both amateurs and professionals from various musical genres are given a stage. From swing and blues, punk rock, electronic sounds, to indie, the range of music styles is truly diverse. This year, the Fête de la Musique sets a sign for lived music diversity, openness, and cultural exchange - loud, colorful, and full of heart.

First held in Paris in 1982, the Fête de la Musique has become a global phenomenon, connecting people in over 1000 cities worldwide, including Saarbrücken since 2007. A printed program is available at Kulturinfo am St. Johanner Markt, and the complete program can be found at www.saarbruecken.de/kultur.

In addition to the Fête de la Musique, the Music Festival Saar will contribute to the day's program on June 21 in the city center of Saarbrücken. So, mark your calendars and get ready to immerse yourself in the joyous celebration of music that the Fête de la Musique 2025 promises to be!

This year, the University of the Saarland campus will be filled with diverse live music performances, from classical pieces by Dvořák, Fauré, and Strauss to blues, electronic music, and indie tunes, as the Fête de la Musique continues to champion musical diversity. On June 29, entertainment possibilities extend beyond the day-long event, with the Music Festival Saar adding to the festivities in the city center.
