Saab Stock: Billion-Dollar Order Secured from Sweden!

Swedish defence group Saab has secured a major contract from Sweden’s Defence Materiel Administration (FMV). The deal involves supplying advanced artillery-locating radar systems, with deliveries expected by 2027. The agreement is worth 1.1 billion Swedish krona (around $100 million).

The contract centres on the latest version of Saab’s Arthur system. This technology detects incoming indirect fire from distances of up to 100 kilometres. The order also includes options for additional systems and a 15-year support agreement for Sweden.

Saab will oversee the integration of these radars into military vehicles. This step aims to improve mobility and operational readiness for Swedish forces. The deal is structured to allow other partner nations, including the Netherlands, to join the procurement programme. If more countries participate, the contract’s overall value could grow. Deliveries are set to begin in 2027, with the system expected to enhance Sweden’s defence capabilities. The long-term support agreement ensures maintenance and upgrades over the next decade and a half.

The 1.1 billion krona contract marks a significant investment in Sweden’s defence infrastructure. With deliveries starting in 2027, the Arthur system will provide long-range detection of artillery threats. The deal also opens the door for international partners to expand the programme further.
