Russia's Primorsky Krai helicopter delays leave remote villages cut off
A crucial helicopter service in Russia's Primorsky Krai has faced delays and cancellations, leaving remote communities stranded. The latest disruption affects route No. 127/128, which connects Terney to several isolated settlements along the coast.
The flight, originally scheduled for earlier in March, was pushed back to March 26 due to poor weather. This route serves Malaya Kema, Amgu, Maksimovka, Ust-Sobolevka, Svetlaya, Yedinka, and Samarga before returning to Terney. A separate flight between Terney and Yedinka has been cancelled entirely.
Around 1,200 people live in these settlements, relying on the helicopter service for essential travel. The suspension follows an earlier announcement in early 2026, when maintenance issues first grounded flights in the region.
Residents now face extended isolation as the helicopter service remains unreliable. The delays and cancellations cut off their main link to Terney, the nearest transport hub. No immediate alternative has been provided for those affected.
