Karpin Explains Safonov's Absence from Russia Training

Russia's national team adapts as four key players miss Malaysia friendly

Russia head coach Valeri Karpin has announced that four players will miss the friendly against Malaysia. Goalkeepers Matvei Safonov and Anton Mitryushkin, along with Daniil Fomin and Konstantin Tyukavin, are all sidelined, according to Match TV.

Karpin provided individual reasons for each absence. Daniil Fomin will not take part due to a knee injury that has kept him out of training.

Regarding the goalkeepers and forwards, the coach noted that the squad already has enough players in those positions for the match, making it unnecessary to call up Safonov, Mitryushkin, or Tyukavin. He singled out Tyukavin, however, praising his strong performance in the previous game, where he scored a goal and provided an assist.
