Russia's 'Honest Sign' Keg Marking System Launches Jan 15, 2024

The 'Honest Sign' marking system, set to launch on January 15, 2024, aims to enhance the legality and safety of purchased beer and other low-alcohol drinks in kegs. It encourages responsible consumption and involves cooperation with retail sellers of these drinks.

Businesses selling these beverages must comply with the new system. They need to register, activate the relevant product group, and set up cash and accounting software. A 2D scanner connected to the cash register is also required to transmit the marking code and volume sold for retail stores, or the product code for catering organisations. Data must be sent within a day of selling drinks from a new keg.

Individual entrepreneurs must ensure all their business locations are added to the EGAIS directories with the FIAS ID identifier and are not blocked. As of October 2023, no specific companies selling drinks near me have been identified as required to register for the system. Official news channels or press releases from involved organisations should be monitored for updates.

The 'Honest Sign' marking system is designed to improve the safety and legality of beer and low-alcohol drinks sales. Businesses must comply by registering, setting up necessary software, and transmitting data promptly. Further information on specific company requirements can be found through official channels.
