The custom game just got bumpier, 'cause Sergey Kuryakov, the acting guv'nor of the Customs Cooperation Department, is now the big boss. That's right, he took up the position on April 28.
As the new dude in charge, he's gonna handle some hefty duties for the Federal Customs Service of Russia. His tasks include playing an active role in global customs regulation collaboration, liaising with foreign governments and international organizations, drafting international agreements on customs, and managing other the Bureau's woes.
Born in the custom world back in '94, Kuryakov started out as a cargo inspector at Saratov Customs. Since then, he's sniffed around as the Deputy Head of the Customs Service's Rep Office in Kazakhstan, the Russian rep in Abkhazia, and simultaneously represented the service in Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia.
From 2021, he might've been the right-hand man in the TCB of the Federal Customs Service, and since July 2024 well... he basically put on the boss hat.
