Russia's construction sector defies challenges with strong Q1 2026 growth

Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Marat Khusnullin highlighted Yakutia and the Amur Region during a meeting of the Government Commission for Regional Development, where officials reviewed the construction sector's performance in the first quarter of 2026.

"The Deputy Prime Minister singled out the regions leading in key performance indicators, including Chelyabinsk Oblast, the Chechen Republic, the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Republic of Buryatia, Amur Oblast, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, and the Sakha Republic (Yakutia)," the government's press service reported.

Khusnullin emphasized that, despite challenging conditions, the construction industry has remained stable. In the first quarter of 2026, Russia commissioned 6.9 million square meters of non-residential buildings and 23 million square meters of housing.
