Ukraine's Armed Forces Teach a Lesson to "Marinovka" Airfield in Russia's Volgograd Region

Delivering a stern message, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have shown their prowess in the skies, taking out a few Russian Su-34 fighter jets parked at the "Marinovka" airfield in Russia's Volgograd region.

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and Ukraine's Special Operations Forces (SSO) have teamed up to inflict damage on the enemy, demonstrating their capabilities during a joint special operation.

According to reports by RBC-Ukraine, this high-stakes mission left two Russian Su-34 fighter-bombers in ashes, while two more were left with injuries. These aircraft are at the heart of Russia’s bombing operations against Ukraine, armed with guided bombs designed for precision strikes.

To execute the operation, the SSO and SBU employed long-range drones, showcasing their adaptability on the battlefield. The drone attack also set the technical-exploitation facility ablaze, vital to the military base as it performs maintenance, repairs, and prepares aircraft for takeoff.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the successful achievement, stating that the strike hit various combat aircraft units, including four formidable Su-34s, as well as the crucial technical-exploitation facility.

The Su-34 jets are frontline fighter-bombers often deployed in bombing operations with guided aerial bombs. The attack on the airfield, located about 900 kilometers southeast of Moscow, is a part of Ukraine's well-orchestrated strategy to undermine Russian aerial operations and weaken their air power by striking airbases deep within Russian territory.

The SBU emphasized that such military installations and aircraft can be legitimately targeted, especially given Russia's relentless bombing campaigns against Ukrainian civilian areas. This strike appears to be another telltale sign of Ukraine’s heightened drone attacks on Russian territory, aiming to overburden air defenses, affect the Russian military infrastructure and the general populace.

All in all, the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ audacious operation at Marinovka airfield resulted in the destruction and damage of various Russian Su-34 jets and significant damage to the airfield’s maintenance and technical facilities, further eroding Russian air capabilities in the Volgograd region. [1][2][3][5]
