In the ongoing conflict in the Donetsk region of Ukraine, Russian forces have been making significant advances since spring 2025, particularly around Dobropillia. However, the specific progress in certain villages, such as Novokhatka, Tolyayevo, Verkhnekamensky, Novospaskoye, Nikanorovka, Voskresenka, Zeleny Gai, and Toretsk, remains unclear as of August 12-13, 2025.

Russian troops have intensified their offensive, gradually pushing into frontline villages and probing for weaknesses in Ukrainian defenses. Small infantry assault groups, often on foot and without armored vehicle support, are leading these advances.

Reports suggest that Russian forces have infiltrated villages near Dobropillia, including Kucheriv Yar, Zolotyi Kolodiaz, and Vesele. They have partially cut the key T-0515 Pokrovsk-Dobropillia supply route, putting pressure on Ukrainian logistics.

The Russian advance threatens to split Ukrainian forces in Donetsk, potentially encircling urban clusters including Pokrovsk, Myrnohrad, Dobropillia, and further east towards Kramatorsk. The shortage of Ukrainian soldiers defending these areas has contributed to the Russian breakthrough.

According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), there are infiltrations and advances near Dobropillia, but no specific mention of the aforementioned villages is made in the latest assessments.

As for Toretsk, which is in the Donetsk region, there is no specific note of recent enemy advances in August 2025, based on available sources.

On August 5, Russian occupiers had taken Popov Yar in the Donetsk region, according to DeepState. As of mid-August 2025, there are still 21,700 civilians, including 115 children, in the Donetsk region in the zone of active hostilities, according to OVO data.

The situation remains fluid with risks of encirclement maneuvers in parts of Donetsk, requiring Ukraine to redeploy reserves and brace for further Russian offensives. The uncertainty surrounding the specific progress in certain villages adds another layer of complexity to the ongoing conflict.

Political tensions and war-and-conflicts continue to escalate in the Donetsk region of Ukraine as Russian forces make progress in their offensive, with infiltrations and advances reported near Dobropillia. However, the specific developments in villages like Novokhatka, Tolyayevo, Verkhnekamensky, Novospaskoye, Nikanorovka, Voskresenka, Zeleny Gai, and Toretsk remain elusive, due to the fluid nature of the ongoing general news.
