In Kherson, Ukraine, on August 2, 2025, a series of Russian shelling attacks resulted in the deaths of two civilians and injured at least seven others, including one child.

The attacks, which targeted multiple settlements, caused significant damage to infrastructure, affecting the city of Kherson and several other areas across the region. Five apartment buildings, eight private houses, a grain warehouse, a utility structure, and a private vehicle were damaged as a result of the shelling.

The most notable attack occurred around 6 p.m. when Russian aircraft dropped two guided bombs on a key bridge connecting Kherson city center to the Ostriv (Korabel) neighborhood island, creating a large crater and making vehicle travel impossible. This incident poses a risk of isolating the historic area.

The affected settlements include Antonivka, Zelenivka, Prydniprovskе, Dniprovske, Rozlyv, and many others. Local officials urged civilians to evacuate due to the risk of food shortages, lack of medical aid, and potential isolation caused by the damaged bridge.

The shelling campaign involved drone terror, artillery shelling, and airstrikes. The overall attack pattern reflects continued high targeting of civilians, though Russian forces temporarily reduced assault operations in the area as they regrouped.

On August 1, the Kherson region saw one death and nine injuries. A 68-year-old woman was killed in the Kорабельний District due to enemy shelling, while two local men, aged 56 and 55, were injured as a result of the enemy strike in Bilozeryka. The two men were at home during the attack. Another 79-year-old man sustained blast trauma in the same district, and a 41-year-old man suffered blast trauma, multiple injuries to the torso and limbs in the same area.

On the same day, at 05:00, Russian artillery shelled Bilozeryka, causing the injury of the two men. The exact location of the injury was Bilozeryka. A man's body was retrieved from under the rubble in the Dniprovsky District.

As of now, the total number of deaths in the Kherson region on August 1 is 1, and the total number of injuries is 9. The tragic events in Kherson underscore the ongoing conflict and its devastating impact on civilians.

The ongoing war-and-conflicts in Ukraine, specifically in the Kherson region, have resulted in numerous casualties and infrastructure damage. Politics and general news outlets are reporting the shelling attacks in August, including the shelling on August 2 which resulted in two civilian deaths, seven injuries, and significant damage to structures like apartment buildings, private houses, a grain warehouse, utility structures, and private vehicles. The attacks also caused a potentially isolating incident on a key bridge, posing a risk to the historic area.
